시놉시스 Synopsis
죽음을 앞둔 노작가는 세상을 떠난 아내에게 바칠 마지막 걸작을 쓰기 위해 전장을 헤쳐 나갔던 자신의 여정을 되돌아본다.
In his final moments, an aging author reflects on his odyssey through the battlefield, a journey undertaken to write one last masterpiece for his deceased wife.

전쟁을 통과한 사람의 내면에는 많은 구멍들이 존재할 것이다. 그 구멍들을 들여다보는 건 아무래도 쉽지 않은 일이다. 그 구멍들은 자신의 것이기도 하지만, 모두의 것이기도 하기 때문이다. 그것은 전쟁의 아픈 특성이자 폭력의 특성이기도 하다. 과연 그 구멍들을 개인이 용기 있게 들어낼 수 있을까? 영화에 등장하는 나이 든 남자는 베트남 전쟁을 겪으며 사랑하는 연인은 물론, 존경하는 선생님, 그리고 무수히 많은 사람들을 잃었다. 영화는 그 남자가 겪은 일들을 마치 어제의 일인 듯 하나의 시간으로 연결하여 자연스럽게 보여준다. 그 남자는 어쩌면 현재를 살 수 없는 남자일지도 모른다. 모든 시간이 공존하는 세계를 사는 이 남자는 영화 속에서 자신이 쓴 책들을 통해 끊임없이 그 구멍들을 홀로 메꿔나간다.

Within the mind of someone who has lived through war, there must be countless voids. Looking into them is no easy task, for they are both personal and collective. This is the painful nature of war—and of violence itself. Can an individual truly summon the courage to lay them bare? The elderly man in the film lived through the Vietnam War, losing the woman he loved, a revered teacher, and countless others. The film seamlessly weaves these events into a single continuum of time, making them feel as immediate as if they happened only yesterday. Perhaps he is a man incapable of living in the present. Existing in a world where all times coexist, he continually attempts to fill these voids alone through the books he has written
