시놉시스 Synopsis
북극해 고위도 지역을 배로 탐험하며, 여정 내내 여러 피오르드를 거쳤다. 광활하고 황량한 풍경 앞에 나는 한없이 작아졌고 방향 감각을 완전히 잃었다. 내가 어디에 있는지 전혀 파악할 수 없었다. 그래서 튼튼한 삼각대와 카메라를 들고, 하선 때마다 180° 파노라마 촬영을 가능한 흔들림 없이 느리게 반복했다. 마치 삼각대와 함께 공연을 연습하듯. 촬영 내내 카메라는 우리가 끊임없이 연습하는 과정을 기록했다.
Being on an expedition aboard a ship in the high arctic, I got transported to different fjords throughout the journey. Facing the vast, deserted landscape, I felt extremely tiny. I basically lost my orientation, not able to locate myself, at all. So, with a sturdy video tripod and a camera, all I did during each landing was to conduct 180° pan shots, repeatedly, as steady and slowly as possible. As if, I was rehearsing for a dance performance with my tripod every time during shooting, while the camera documented the way we practice all along.

만약 누군가 춤을 춘다면, 그 몸이 움직이는 것뿐 아니라 그가 보는 풍경 역시 달라질 수밖에 없다. <180°・78°14'n_15°36'e>는 카메라가 춤의 주체가 되는 영화다. 한곳에 고정된 카메라가 360도로 움직이며 풍경의 변화를 추구하고, 그 변화의 이미지가 영화를 지속한다. 풍경의 주인공은 북극이다. 북극의 빙하와 광활한 자연이 파노라마처럼 비추어질 때 카메라는 공간의 중심이라기보다 공간의 변두리를 끊임없이 헤매는 여행자의 숙명을 지닌 것처럼 느껴진다. 방향감의 상실, 장소성의 상실 속에서 그저 움직임을 계속하며 현실의 이미지를 재생하는 보기의 실천은 관객을 영 다른 세계로 안내하는 듯하다. 영화의 제목은 이러한 실천의 결과가 특정한 의미를 고정하기보다 그저 특정한 좌표의 현시로서만 정의될 수 있다는 뜻으로 여겨진다.

A fixed camera rotates 360 degrees, continuously altering the Arctic landscape and sustaining the film through these changing perspectives. As the vast glaciers and nature unfold panoramically, the camera embodies a wandering traveler, losing a sense of direction and place, yet guiding the audience to an entirely different realm through its relentless movement. The film's title suggests that this practice of seeing is not about fixing a specific meaning but merely manifesting specific coordinates.
